After twenty years running his businesses in England, John Atkin sold his shares and moved to Sarasota with his wife, a native Floridian, and two young sons. John’s career has been a series of decisive moves with successful results. Born in Chesterfield, England, John excelled in cricket and toured Australia and the West Indies with the England cricket team. Professionally, he inspired confidence in his employers at an early age. Halifax PLC, a national bank in England, promoted him to the wealthy Surrey district of London known as the stockbroker belt and placed him in charge of the Mortgage Department at their Kingston-Upon-Thames branch.
When John was promoted again two years later to Assistant Manager at a Central London branch with a staff of 60, he was 23 years old, the youngest Assistant Manager in the bank. Despite his very promising career, he decided to go into business for himself and at the age of 26, qualified as a Financial Advisor and set up shop in the exclusive Knightsbridge district of London. Moving back to his hometown a couple of years later, he started up Spire Financial Services; in 1998 he formed Spire Estates which went on to become the most successful (real) estate company in the area. John’s brokerage company had become successful by reducing commissions to encourage faster sales.
After not being allowed to advertise his commission rates with a previous brokerage in Sarasota, John has now joined Quantum Realty Solutions who give him the autonomy to negotiate and advertise his own charges, thereby giving the consumer GREAT SAVINGS. As a full time realtor, John offers the same level of service for buyers as for sellers. “The object is to buy a home at the most competitive price. Prior to ever taking clients to a home, I’ll run full background checks on each property. Both clients and I will have the comparative market analysis - how long it has been on the market, if any previous offers have been made, whether the price had been reduced and so on.”

He helps exhibit properties from the Sarasota area to those across the pond interested in moving to Florida. John sees himself coaching his son’s soccer teams in the near future, but right now, he’s working seven days a week running his “new” business. “Because I’m honest and diligent, the only way I can be successful is by giving customers excellent service and the best deal possible - as I have been doing for the past twenty years.”
